Technology-forward home builder Onx Homes is accelerating its growth with expansion into eight new communities across Florida and Texas. The expansion is part of the builder’s broader strategy to
bring its construction methods to more regions experiencing strong housing demand.

The company’s expansion plans will also be supported by a new factory in Texas. Co-founder and CEO Ash Bhardwaj tells BUILDER production has already started from the new Texas factory but the new facility will be fully automated in the latter half of the year.

“Our extensive market expansion is more than just adding new developments—it reflects a strategic response to the evolving housing landscape,” Bhardwaj says. “These eight new communities represent our commitment to providing innovative housing solutions in markets experiencing significant demographic and environmental shifts.”

Founded in 2021, Onx Homes aims to transform the way homes are built by accelerating the construction timeline and implementing technology-first solutions for building resilient homes. The builder’s proprietary X+ Construction process allows for single-family homes to be built in a factory setting in a fraction of the time required by traditional means. The company first began building homes in Florida, but quickly expanded to Texas, recognizing the strong demand for new homes across the Lone Star State

“Earlier, we were solving for speed – why can’t we build a home in less than 30 days?” Bhardwaj says. “At the same time, we realized we are also solving another problem: Resilience. These homes will last hundreds of years. They can withstand hurricanes, there are no termite issues because they are not built with wood. Our homes are also very good for earthquake-centric places.”

The X+ Construction process combines proprietary methods and robotics and advanced technology to develop its homes. To date, the company has acquired 35 intellectual property patents to build each home in a streamlined, holistic process.

“If you look at a traditional home, you have more than 20 subs that need to work on it. Just coordinating that is a major issue,” Bhardwaj says. “X+ construction is all about taking most of the elements into the factory, reducing the subs on the job, and doing as much finishing as possible in the factory environment.”

The Onx process, which can build homes in just 30 days, includes three key elements: Pod+, Component+, and System+ technologies. The Bathroom Pod+ is a concrete-engineered pod that combines high-performing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems with fixtures and intelligent design features. The component element includes Foundation+ and Staircase+ features; Foundation+ delivers a strength of over 8,000 psi while Staircase+ systems are built of concrete reinforced with prestressed beams. The System+ includes thin concrete walls that can withstand up to 175 mile-per-hour winds and feature specialized insulation to absorb sound and deliver strong energy efficiency.

“We are modularizing the kitchen as well, work has been going on around that,” Bhardwaj says. “We are also working on a roofing system which is based on glass fiber reinforced concrete.”

As a technology-forward company, Bhardwaj says Onx Homes is unique because of the scale of its operations as well as cost efficiencies it has achieved. The builder’s single-family homes and townhomes range from three to five bedrooms, two to four-and-a-half baths, and one-to two-car garages with price points starting in the low $300,000s up to the high $600,000s, depending on community location.

“We come from a background where technology helps drive the costs down. Whereas in this industry in the past, technology guys have not addressed costs,” he says. “We find ourselves in a very unique spot to be able to operate in a way that addresses the cost, the speed, the resilience, and gives the consumer true value.”

Moving forward, Bhardwaj says Onx has identified several markets it would like to be operational in, including California, Arizona, Georgia, and the Carolinas.

“[We are] addressing speed, resilience, and what we believe the consumer cares about. These homes hardly have any maintenance and they are built to last for a long period of time,” he says. “There are eight or ten states which comprise almost 80% of the total new-home sales. We aspire to be in all of those places and we have done some analysis of where we want to be and the timeframe of [expansion].”

The company, which closed 281 homes in 2024, has big goals for its future. In addition to producing 100% LEED-certified homes in 2025 and carbon neutral homes by 2030, Onx Homes is planning to rapidly increase its annual volume.

“Our five-to-seven year plan calls for [producing] 10,000 homes per year,”
Bhardwaj says.
